Better than expected.

I bought this jacket after having seen videos about it on the Aye Gear youtube channel. Being a tech geek/ iPhone user this was perfect; it kept my gadgets dry while keeping me dry as well. My only concern was that it seemed to be "too thin" to be warm, I couldn't have been more wrong, this jacket is by far the best I have ever bought and probably will be the best I will ever buy (Until perhaps the AyeGear 22 MK 2 :P) There is plenty room for carrying things, the front two chest pockets can even fit 500ml bottles without it looking bulky! I am definitely going to be a customer of Aye Gear again for their jacket and other products. The only thing about this jacket that comes as a minor inconvenience is the lack of a hood, while your gadgets are all dry inside with your body if you forgot your umbrella then your head will be soaked, especially in Scottish rain. Although this does not take away from the fact that this is a very good jacket that I would highly recommend.

This is essentially a jacket with 22 pockets located around for easy storage of personal belongings and has been dubbed `iFriendly' by the website meaning it has been built with iDevices in mind. Zen actually has his own online technology blog and youtube channel (theunits3) and mainly focuses on Apple products. That said, the jacket includes a pocket which is capable of holding an iPad or an 11" Macbook Air - the inside also has 2 pockets to store your iPhone, iPod Touch or any other smartphone whilst still being able to use the touchscreen which I personally think is quite a good way to still be able to use your device whilst being confident that it is protected by from any water as the jacket is water-resistant.Bahrain, where I'm actually based is a very warm country and summers can reach up 50℃ (122℉) with high humidity levels, so when considering a purchase from AyeGear you may want to consider the AyeGear vest. That said, that brings me to my next point, which is the material and quality of the clothing. The inside of both the vest and jacket have a thick `micro-fiber' lining which is very comfortable and provides warmth in colder temperatures. In warmer temperatures though, I felt that you can get quite hot even with the vest model. The outside is a high quality water-resistant material with the AyeGear logo imprinted on the back. This material is similar to what you would find on raincoats so you can walk in the rain or wet conditions confident that your stuff is safe. I haven't tested scuba diving as of yet, but if anyone does try that, let me know! The zippers on the jacket are of high quality including the front zipper which is normally the most important as it is needed to hold the jacket together quite well. The zipper on the back of the vest however (for the large pocket) seemed to be of different quality and I was not sure why that is. Overall, I think that it was quite sturdy and hard-wearing so not to worry for those who may be a bit on the impatient side.Despite the thickness of the inside material, the other features and versatility of the products outweigh this problem. As I was saying, the jacket was proving to be quite warm when worn in hot temperatures with high humidity so I went ahead an purchased the AyeGear vest, which was expedited to me in less than a week which I was very happy with. As AyeGear have done both times, some goodies such as a keyring, bumper stickers and flyers were included.I think one of the most useful features I have found with the vest since I started using it this summer is going through Airport Security. Previously, I had to empty every pocket, making sure phones, wallets, cash, broadband devices and keys were all out and put through the x-ray. This year however, I just took of the vest and went in altogether, not having to worry that I had forgotten to pick anything back up. Both jackets feature a large zipped pocket in the back; AyeGear have suggested that this can be used for a laptop, but I personally that a bit uncomfortable to wear, although it may come useful for say a spare T-Shirt, pair of jeans or the like.Other features include a pocket capable of holding a tablet to netbook in the size range of an iPad (9.7") and the 11" Macbook Air. I find myself rarely using this pocket as it makes sitting down harder and more uncomfortable, but if you're walking around and need quick access to either, it may come in useful. Some pockets include other accessories including an extendable key-holder, water bottle strap and crocodile clip for arranging cables - the small fishnet pockets on either side of the jackets designed to hold loose change; an SD card pocket; a pen pocket and finally a headphone cable arranger, so that you can pass your headphone cables through to have neatly fixed and once again easily removable.

I tested the AyeGear 22 some time back for a YouTube video. First impressions were very good with a very nice brushed cotton effect material used on the outside of the coat. Even though this is very soft to the touch, it still repelled water into little droplets.Opening up the coat reveals so many pockets, all very useful in their size & position. The see-through pockets especially useful for your smartphone. I use an iPhone as my primary device and you can easily see and operate the screen through the pocket.Attention to detail is very good too, you can see that when you look at the quality of stitching and the branded zips. A lot of thought has gone into the AyeGear 22, in my opinion it is worth more than its asking price.
