Worst jacket ever - disintegrates incredibly quickly

If you'd asked me within a month of having bought this jacket I would have written a review that agreed with the only other one (at the time of writing) and I would also have given it 5 stars. Not now.[Long story short]: I had bought another Timberland jacket via Amazon but the zips were faulty, the style was no longer available and as I wanted a waterproof I chose the Benton which was supplied direct from Timberland and initially I thought it was great.But, within 3 months threads had regularly started coming loose on the sleeves and by the 6th month stage the edges of the cuffs were fraying. I contacted Timberland with the details but they wouldn't do anything without a purchase receipt (which I no longer had) as evidence of buying, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD SUPPLIED IT TO ME DIRECTLY! There was also a long questionnaire to complete and that just put me off.I continued to wear the jacket when the weather turned inclement but the condition of it deteriorated rapidly (almost exponentially); the sleeves are worn away on the insides, the cuffs are completely frayed so that the inner white waterproof lining is clearly visible and when I tried to straighten the jacket at the back after putting it on the last time, the material gave way and ripped just above the hem!I've never encountered such a poor quality piece of clothing ever, and it's not even 18 months old. It's like it's been bio-degrading right in front of my eyes and for such an expensive item I find this unacceptable. I like to buy environmentally sound clothing but when they turn to trash this quickly there's nothing environmentally beneficial about it. It's now only fit for use for when I'm washing the car.
