Ridgeline Roar Jacket

This is an excellent jacket.PROS:It really is waterproof, windproof and silent!Hard wearingLots of big outer pocketsDouble cuff stops wind and rain getting inRoom for a cap/hat under the hood in cold conditions.I found it excels in the following conditions: Extreme rain/snow and/or -5C to 10C temperatureCONS:If you are exerting yourself, you will need to wear a breathable fleece to wear under this jacket - I found a bit of condensation builds up. Otherwise, it's fine for day-to-day use.No inside pockets (but you can use your fleece pockets - see above)Needs expanding hip pockets for more bulky items.

This is a fabulous coat for the great outdoors and especially for those who do more than just walk down the shops.It has obviously been designed with the sportsman/dog walker in mind with a plethora of good sized pockets - 7 in all - and if like me you need to carry a ball, some treats, dog whistle, doggie pick-up bags and have room for the lead and harness when the lad is off and away, then this is the coat for you. The cargo pockets have stud closures whereas the rest are all zipped and the biggest pocket on the chest has both.The neoprene wrist closures are set back far enough to close off the wrist and keep the elements out but still allow for your gloves not to be disadvantaged by the cuffs. I can either tuck my thinsulate gloves inside the end of the cuff or if I have so-called ski gloves on I have the option to tuck the cuffs inside the extended wrist of the glove. Flexibility is key as the neoprene has been placed out of the way. The cuffs have the added advantage of a velcro stretch closure so for the narrow wristed like me, you will be able to keep especially snug. The length is generous such that the hem is the equivalent of, or meets where my fingertips are when I stand with my arms straight down, if you look at the picture you can see the sleeves finish well above the hem.Ridgeline have another nice touch in that the zip starts about 8 inches [metric? ha ha for pups only!] from the hem thus allowing you to walk, bend down and/or climb over things. An action jacket definitely. The hood is voluminous with plenty of adjustment, the material is silent and it is also warm and dry.Don't be put off by the feeling that you are wearing a rolled up carpet when you first wear it, as it will gradually adopt your shape and after a short time it is just the best ever in comfort and fit. I was spoiled with my Chub 3/4 length [but 4 inches shorter than the Ridgeline] jacket as the zip in/off inner fleece actually had sleeves too so if it is sub zero as it has been this year it is commodious enough to allow a fleece jacket or bodywarmer as a base layer.The days of the malodorous waxed cotton jacket are well and truly over.This is an excellent coat, well worth the money, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves the outdoors irrespective of the winter elements.
